So I’ve mentioned before that we have this 80-year-old Steinway piano. It belonged to my great aunt and later my father. When Amy and I were engaged, it finally came to my house. There’s two-month-old William being held next to it.

Needless to say, grand pianos are big. With baby #2 arriving in a mere four months, we’re running short on space. So we decided to temporarily send it back to my parents’ house.

William likes to listen to people playing it, and he enjoys banging on it from time to time, but I don’t think anyone was prepared for his reaction when the piano movers showed up yesterday. He FLIPPED OUT. Amy was describing the scene to me over the phone and it sounded like the saddest thing I’d ever heard. He was sobbing and yelling “Don’t take my piano!” Then he made the sad puppy dog face and followed the movers around as they put it on the truck.

The photo on the right was taken yesterday after it arrived back in its old spot at my parents’ house. We’ll have to take William there soon to show him that his piano didn’t really go anywhere.

Let’s hope he doesn’t have a similar reaction when he discovers that while he was at preschool today, we donated the old love seat to charity.
